Experience this breathtaking tour up to 3500 meters above sea level. 1 overnight STANDARD incl. retour train ticket up to the Jungfraujoch CHF 146 per person. Online booking
75th anniversary of Eiger North Face

The Eiger North Face is one of the great north faces of the Alps. Being the first to conquer this famous wall was the dream of many a climber from all over Europe. The many tragedies and the successful first ascent are more than reason enough to celebrate the 75th anniversary of this mountaineering milestone. Grindelwald Tourism is inviting 50 journalists to Grindelwald in cooperation with Grindelwald Sports, Eigervision, Grindelwald Mountain Rescue, Grindelwald Mountain Guides Association and the Swiss Alpine Club Grindelwald. 1st Eiger Ultra Trail / harder than the North Face solo
20th / 21st of July 2013
Grindelwald is about to launch the Eiger Ultra Trail and with it the first Ultra Trail in the Bernese Oberland. The race with the staging locations Grosse Scheidegg, First, the Faulhorn mountain guest house, Schynige Platte, Wengen, Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg and the traverse along the base of the Eiger North Face is not only spectacular but also a fantastic and unforgettable alpine experience.
The trail E101 with 101 kilometers and 6700 meters in height will be a challenge to all competitors. Ueli Steck, the local matador and Event-Ambassador is convinced: "Personally, I believe that the Eiger Ultra Trail will be tougher than the solo attempt of the Eiger North Face..." And this despit the possibility to stop over at the guest house on the Faulhorn at 2680 m and the Mountain Award that can be won there. More information on the event on www.eigerultratrail.ch
Eiger Bike Challenge
11th August 2013
Altough the Eiger is the namesake of the biggest bike race in the Bernese Oberland. Nevertheless, the proud peaks at 3970 meter about sea doesn't play the major role, when it's going to the charme of the bike marathon. The pretty mountain village Grindelwald, the magnificent alpine scenery of Wetterhorn, Fiescherwand and Faulhorn and the technically challenging single trails between Grosse and Kleine Scheidegg, the all brings at least as much charme to the competition. The main category over 88 km and 3900 hm is for technically experienced and physically toned athletes. The short route - 33 km / 2500 hm and 22 km / 1000 hm is also for less ambitious riders who likes to pactice their sport in a unique mountain landscape. More information on www.eigerbike.ch
The Mountain Hostel is an ideal location for children's camp. With the independent infrastructure, the sun deck and beer garden lounge close to the trains, in the summer we accommodate several children's groups, which are completely comfortable with us. Self catering or catering from us - the various kind of accommodations and especially the separate part of the hostel for groups, provide a great group atmosphere and lot of fun for stay in Grindelwald. My tip for children's camp: The adrenalin kick at the conclusion of the camp - Abseiling in Gletscherschlucht with local profis! Learn more about trust by belaying each other and as a highlight after your efforts, put yourself into the safe hands of your guide, letting him rappel you back down!
